My Biracial Guardian Angels

In 1997 I was driving to work one morning from York PA. to Towson MD., like I have been doing for the past 9 years. This 59 mile trip was my morning drive day after day year after year with never anything special happening but the occasional traffic jam or fender bender.
This morning would be different however with me getting run over by a 10 ton dump truck carrying rocks from the foundry. The crash was bad, making my car flip over and over 4 times and spinning on it end until landing ever so gently on the roof on the Inner Loop of 695.

I sat there in the car upside down waiting for my death from cars smashing into me during rush hour traffic but it never happened. Apparently as luck would have it, I never went into the oncoming traffic and stayed on the wall that split to opposing traffic too. This in itself I thought was a miracle until I tell you what happened next.

While upside down, still in my seatbelt, a black man and a white woman peered into my driver’s side window and knocked on the glass telling me to unbuckle my seatbelt, unlock the door and get out. They repeated this for a second time so I did what they asked. I pushed myself back into my seat using the ceiling to help since I was hanging upside down anyway. This was difficult to do but I managed it and even unlocked the door and crawled out.

I was completely untouched from bruises, scratches or anything after flipping over 4 times and smashing into the median between 6 lanes of opposing traffic during rush hour. Once out of the car I went over and sat down on the median and waited for ambulances and the police which only took about 5 minutes it seemed.

When the police got there they started to use the “Jaws of Life” to cut open my car to get what they thought was a driver out of the wreckage. All along I was just sitting there watching this wondering what the hell they were doing to my already banged up ride.

Just then a man yelled out, “There is no one in here”, “There is no driver!” to which I spoke up and said well I was the driver and already got out of the car on my own.

The cop looked at me like I was crazy and then I saw why. My car looked like a balled up piece of paper and remember that door I opened so easily, well it was smashed up and the glass was gone too. There was no way in hell I got out of that car if I was inside in the first place.

Oh yea, remember the black man and the white woman that told me what to do, well no one ever stopped to help me at the crash because the traffic was too thick and it was on the inside lane. These two people were never there and somehow I was plucked from the car before it smashed up.

These two people could have been my guardian angles and took me out of harm’s way before it happened I suppose. Some say that your angles will appear to you in the way most easy for you to accept so the black and white couple could have been because my dad and mom are of two colors, one white and the other black.

This is a true story and I have yet to this day find out where they took my car or to get a bill from the accident, like it never happened in the first place but I have the title to the Acura Integra that I crashed in now to remember it by.

Things that make you say, “Hummmm….”
