What is wealth anyway?
My career is one that movies are made of with it’s ups and down and rags to riches type of movements. Starting out as a wood worker and cabinet builder in the 80’s it was hard to make much money and be married too. Loosing that work from a racial incident sent me into welfare for a few years and off to school for electronics. Working on the weekend days for Toys R Us and by night for UPS unloading trucks, I went to school while my family was on welfare. I soon graduated and landed a job for a small electronic company in York Pa. Needless to say I started to make very good money and left welfare and was on my way to a normal all American lifestyle. Then moving on to a position with Black & Decker in Towson MD where I drove for 100 miles a day for work. I also had a small little computer shop and the worlds largest video arcade screen the size of a movie theatre. I lived to work I think and my wife at the time did not.
Things changed for me when I decided to divorce my wife at that time for irreconcilable differences In other words we did not get along and she wanted to seek a man outside our sacred bond. After a few years I married again and this really did not do me any better. We moved to Texas to make a better life and a fresh start from all the city problems there. I took a job at Lucent Technologies and Bell Labs and now making even more money then I have ever dreamed of. This lasted for about 3 years and boom the layoffs came for both my new wife and I. We had already been having relationship problems and this was just one more thing to nail the coffin shut. I was divorced again and now jobless too with my home being sold and my car being repossessed.
From riches to rags I went, loosing all I owned just as easy as I got it a few years before. Even with all the training and schooling I now possessed there was no jobs to be had. Luckily I had been working on websites for many years as a side business and had a few buildings in Canton Texas for the First Monday Trade Days to keep me going just enough to eat, drink and think. I soon found another job and after 2 years or so I was laid off again and by this time my home was sold and I had met another sweet lady that helped me out by allowing me to move in with her. We even started to really like each other, but this too would not last for we were very different in our likes and dislikes, but really needed each other for support.
I eventually moved out from a shared apartment we had together into a home of some friends that believed in me and became my partners in a few online businesses. This change gave me time to think and build up my web site and web hosting business enough to live. At the same time soon after I was rehired at my old company at even a better rate of pay to boot. If that was not enough, some of my ideas started to take of and I was soon back on my path upward even higher then before I fell. (2006)
Update:
Well that was short lived, the job I mean. So in 2007 I am laid-off again with no job to speak of but at least I have a car now and some money to keep me going for a while. This will give me time to work on my inventions and do more website work with Business In The Black.
